About the job
For 35 years, Eagle Mapping has been an industry-leading provider of airborne geospatial data and mapping products. We are a dedicated team of mapping professionals, and invest in leading-edge hardware, software, and training to help our staff maintain this advantage. We currently operate 4 top-of-the-line LiDAR sensors and 3 digital cameras, which are frequently deployed throughout North and South America.
In order to support increasing demands for data acquisition, we are currently looking for an Aerial Survey Technician to join our field acquisition team. This is a continuing full-time position, and extensive in-house training will be provided. The Airborne Sensor Operator is responsible for operating LiDAR sensors, digital camera systems and GPS instruments in an aerial platform. This position requires constant monitoring of weather forecasts and other key components of the acquisition operation as well as regular communication with management. Extensive field work is required and will include long periods in small aircraft which may be based out of remote locations. Schedule flexibility will be key, as favourable weather conditions must be taken advantage of, frequently on short notice. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to thrive in a complex work environment, frequently with limited direct supervision. You will be the first point of contact for the flight crew during field operations, so teamwork and effective communication will be key in this role. Your ‘home base’ will be our Langley, BC office, but for a significant portion of your time you will likely be deployed on acquisition projects throughout Western Canada.
